Remember this old song?

Well I woke up this morning...you were on my mind...you were on my miiinnndd. Last night and this morning I had stuff on my mind. I went to sleep thinking about phrases I have heard during my life time.

Here is a partial list in no particular order:

Good is never made better by the presence of evil.

Just because you do not believe does not mean it is not so.

What the parent allows in moderation, the child will do in access.

Never put your precious baby in a car with someone that has been drinking. Don't be that someone.

Kids are worth the sacrifice. Those that are not willing to sacrifice should not have the kids.

Character is not something that can we wired on. You either have it or you don't.

Some people look better going than they do coming.

Life is short. Eternity is long.

Money cannot buy happiness but it sure beats what is in second place.

Never disrespect your parents, the police officer, or the soldier.

Always live within your means, not your wants.

Divorce is always about the parents, never the kids.

The cover of a book is easily changed. The inside of the book not so easily changed.

What do you think 'till death do you part' means?

Never trust a liar. Strive not to be a liar.

Your first impression is usually right.

There is no such thing as a white lie.

There has only been one person that really walked on water.

It's never right when it's done under the table.

There is true guilt and there is false guilt.

Some things in life are fun. Some are just dangerous.

Your children will always be your babies no matter how big they get.

If it's delicious, it's probably bad for you.

Don't be guilty of throwing stones. It's not your life.

If you cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel, you may be at a curve.

All of these are things that came into my brain. None are written down and neither is this list but it is now on my blog.

Home Based Business

Are you looking for a real, legit, home based business? You do not have to sell make up, washing powder, or energy drinks. It is an honest, exploding opportunity with residual income. It is an business that you can will to your children or sell. It's great for moms who want to stay home with their babies.

I have been looking for an opportunity that would help my hardworking Hubbie retire. This seems to be it.

Post your email in a comment and I will send you the link. Free, no obligation and no pressure!! I will never contact you again unless you request it.

The ball will be in your court.

The Day After

It's Wednesday, July 23, 2009. It is also the day after my 61st happy birthday. It was a good day.

A long time friend called and we talked over an hour, long distance. Free long distance calls are great!

Then my youngest son, drove in from his college town to take me to lunch. Dad paid via Mom's debit card but Dad doesn't know it yet. It will be okay with Dad. He likes to keep Mom happy.

Later that night my oldest son and GRAND baby Skyped me to say happy birthday. Bet you didn't know a 6 month old baby could say happy birthday.

Before I hit the hay, I checked my Facebook page. There were lots of birthday wishes which was very nice.

I do wonder where 61 years have gone? Only old people are that old.

I'm tickled to still be above ground.

Happy Birthday to Me

Today is my 61st Birthday. I am as old as Israel, the new Israel, not the ancient times Israel. Israel became a nation, after the 1948 war, in May. I was born in July of the same year.

It's very quiet in my house today. Hubbie is at work. The sons were here last weekend. The daughter is somewhere in South America on a cruise. What should I do today?

I woke up early, showered, brushed the teeth, put on the face and headed to an early morning coffee shop in a local near by small town. I am back and now blogging.

Birthdays are strange most of the time. It seems the only one that it is really important to is the birthday-ee. But as long as a person keeps having birthdays, it means you are still alive, breathing, and above the ground.

Years ago I read this quote:

ANY DAY ABOVE GROUND IS A GOOD ONE!

So, today is a good day, my 61st birthday. I'm happy to still be above ground.

Happy Birthday to me.

11:45 AM ---- UPDATE...The youngest son, drove 2 hours to come take me to lunch for my birthday!!!!!!!!! YIPPPEEEE!

Tuesday Taste Good

I'm sitting here at my trusty eMachine, typing away and playing a game. I type when the ads come on the screen. When the ads go off, I play the game. I'm too cheap to pay into the game.

We are having pizza tonight. The brownies are made and I ate two already.

I am trying to loose weight again for the ten millionth quarddrillionth time. (Spellcheck will go nuts with that sentence. My point is made.)

I gained one pound, which is surprising. I thought it would be more, post birthday weekend.

My plan is to go to my meeting on Tuesday mornings, drink a sweet tea from Mickey D, bake something sweet and eat something I want on Tuesday nights. When Wednesday morning comes, start all over again.

It's pretty freeing so far and a fraction of the guilt. Why does dieting involve so much guilt?

Another Monday

It's Monday again. Where does the weekend go?

This was my Birthday Weekend. Our two sons, daughter in law and GRAND baby (1/2 year old; me much older) were here Friday night and Saturday morning. The youngest went back to college on Sunday morning. It was fun.

Today, I attempted to get the house under control....

Laundry, including all the sheets, towels, throw rugs, clothes

Made the beds with fresh linens and comforters

Vaccuumed the extra bedroom, hall

Dishwasher, which is ongoing, never ending, but so glad to have one

Drove to the local Kroger and picked up a few out of stock things, a cooked chicken and frozen veggies for the microwave. Presto. Supper.

Cleaned the bathroom, including scrubbing the floor with my foot and a towel

Dusted

Caught up with some friends on email and Facebook

Laid down a bit for a rest this afternoon but just thought, no sleep, it's okay

Mondays evaporate.

USA Capitol Switchboard Phone Number

This is a discovery new to me. It is the REAL phone number for the Capitol switchboard. You call the number listed below. You give your zip code plus the extra four numbers. The operator will punch in the zip code and you will be directed to your Congressional representative. You do not even need to know who it is or even how to spell their name.

I tried it today because it is overloaded on weekdays. I was directed to my representative but was given a recording saying his mailbox was full to please call back at normal business hours.

1-877-SOBUSOB

Now, is this number referring to the one calling or to the one being called?

I do not curse or let such words come out of my mouth so this is a bit embarrassing to me but try it.

You have no excuse to not call and be heard now.

It is legit.

Fun Friday

It's Bigger than ME

Blogging is great therapy. It helps to divert the mind and refocus the agenda.

Blogging is a giving world. Free pictures can be had, free crafts can be copied.

Blogging asks little in return. It is free at this point in time. Who knows how long we will have this 'medium'. Soon, it may be controlled by people who have no business controlling anything much less what we say.

Blogging is a great way to brag. I am so proud of our soldiers and sailors all around the world. They are the true heroes. Sure, their motives may be to make money to go to school or to start a career or to keep from going to jail. But, still, they serve.

So, the blogging post today is not about me because it really is bigger than me. It's about the people, men and women, that serve our great Country.

Thank you today, tomorrow, and always for being my heroes!!

Do you feel good?

Do you remember James Brown, the famous singer? One of his best songs had the words, I feel good! In spite of his age, he would dance, spin and sing at the top of his lungs. He would sweat and wipe his face with a towel that he wore around his shoulders. Sure, he did it all for money and because it was his job.

I wonder how much of our lives are controlled by what we think? There is a saying, "You are what you eat". True, but how much of what we are is what we think?

Our brains are like a computer. It gives out what is 'fed' into it. If we continually feed in negatives, do we get back negatives? If we feed in positives, do we get back positives?

Can we think our way out of a bad mood?

Executive Order - Hamas Coming to USA

I am trying to get away from posting politics on this blog. However, so much keeps coming that I feel it is my American duty to let other Americans know. This is a copy of a shocking email I received Thursday. READ IT CAREFULLY AND PASS IT ON.

Is this what its all about?

This blog was started as a diversion for me. I was dealing with too much stuff and needed an out. Last night, I was trying to figure out something to give my blog some direction.

I came up with before and after stuff. I think it's going to be a great motivator for myself. All posts will not be about before and after but many will. I'm not changing the name of the blog or starting another one. I'm just sharing.

Here is a before and after in how I am taking baby steps to change my eating.

Before I would eat...

After I now eat....

I think I'm addicted to blogging. It's so much fun! Thanks Cathy! You got me hooked.

Embracing Imperfection - Copy of Another Email from Another Friend

This little story came to my email box several days ago. Feel free to send it to one of your friends, too.

Embracing Imperfection

When I was a little girl, my Mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every now and then. And I remember one night in particular, when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work. On that evening so long ago, my Mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage and extremely burned toast in front of my Dad. I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed! Yet all my Dad did was reach for his toast, smile at my Mom, and ask me how my day was at school. I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember watching him smear butter and jelly on that toast and eat every bite!

When I got up from the table that evening, I remember hearing my Mom apologize to my Dad for burning the toast. And I'll never forget what he said: Baby, I love burned toast.

Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and I asked him if he really liked his toast burned. He wrapped me in his arms and said, Your Momma put in a hard day at work today, and she's real tired. And besides - a little burnt toast never hurt anyone!

You know, life is full of imperfect things......and imperfect people. I'm not the best housekeeper or cook. What I've learned over the years is that learning to accept each other's faults - and choosing to celebrate each other's differences - is one of the most important keys to creating a healthy, growing, and lasting relationship.

And that's my prayer for you today. That you will learn to take the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of your life and lay them at the feet of God. Because in the end, He's the only One who will be able to give you a relationship where burnt toast isn't a deal-breaker! We could extend this to any relationship in fact - as understanding is the base of any relationship, be it a husband-wife or parent-child or friendship!

"Don't put the key to your happiness in someone else's pocket - keep it in your own."

We'll be friends until we are old and senile.

Then we'll be new friends!

Today July 7 2009

Today.....

I went to my meeting, lost one pound.

Ate out. Paid for lunch of a policeman. I've tried to do this many times since 9/11. But, I'm going to have to stop. We are living on one pay check now.

Emailed a bunch of people about a possible biz opportunity.

Watched the Michael Jackson funeral while I was emailing. How sad that our culture has idolized a very sick man and all of these people showed up today, even some of his own family, who left him over his lifetime.

Changed the bag on the vacuum cleaner.

Smelled something yuck in the freezer so pulled out all the old stuff and trashed. The power was out so something certainly went bad, real bad.

Put away some things.

Ran the dishwasher.

Made the bed.

Hired the little boy down the street to mow the lawn since it is going to be so hot tomorrow and Hubbie is in the heat enough as it is.

Treated Hubbie & me to Pizza Hut, large, pepperoni pizza with free chocolate dippers. A coupon came to my email for the dippers. But, it was a waste of money. We threw several pieces of pizza in the garbage because young son is back at college. A large pepperoni pan pizza is too big for us.

Hubbie bought home a cute little shirt for the GRAND baby. See the picture.

hmmmm...Hubbie is not a real word and GRAND baby is two words?? Who does this spellcheck anyway?

Trivia Here Trivia There

Trivia, as defined in Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary, is unimportant matters. It's the first definition. There are others but do not apply to this post.

Sunday is usually church time for us. Today, I was a bit ill to the tummy so stayed home. This evening, I was emailing friends, catching up on my Facebook page, and listened to a conference call on a possible new business opportunity.

On Facebook, a post was made about a very small baby that did not make it. http://www.audreycaroline.blogspot.com/
As a link to another blog, there was a youtube video
http://www.youtube.com/v/ese3zYZ-NA4&hl=en&fs=1
of a dad and mother asking for intense prayer for their middle child, a beautiful blond, blue eyed little girl, with a brain tumor. Another friend, who we have known since he was a little boy, posted on Facebook about his extremely delicate health and battle with cancer.

Then, I looked at my blog. The first response was this is all trivia. Sure, it's my life and my thoughts but in the grand theme of things, comparing this to the others mentioned above, unimportant matters.

Yes, our life has been difficult at times. My battle with cancer 30 + years ago. My husband's car wreck that sent him literally UNDER an 18 wheeler. He ducked into the passenger seat and the bottom of the truck tore up his left shoulder. The loss of all of our parents, my youngest brother on a motorcycle, a miscarriage, church situations, the list goes on but at the moment even my injury from that stupid fall seem so much trivia. Why? Because 'most of it' was years ago, not now. I hate trials and I hate pain. I hate being IN trials and IN pain.

I pause just for a moment to think of my life and the fact that I have a life at all. My husband is an honest, hardworking man, who has more character than most preachers that have crossed my path. My oldest son is married with a beautiful baby boy and a Godly wife. My daughter is married to a kind Godly man and teaches high school children with disabilities including Autism. My youngest son is preparing for ministry.

It's time to pause and give a prayer of thankfulness for.....

An Ounce of Prevention IS Worth a Pound of Cure

It's true. An ounce of prevention IS worth a pound of cure especially when it comes to cleaning.

In this picture, I wrapped the plastic grocery bag around the jug. Also tying the handles around the handle of the milk jug, leaving enough of the handle because the bag can be slippery. It keeps the white sticky on the bottom of the jug, which seems to build up even though you wipe and wipe, from sticking to the shelf in the refrigerator. Presto, less mess.

You can leave the bag a bit loose and it will also collect dribbles and small spills when pouring the milk into a glass or other container.

Who wants to have less mess and less cleaning in their lives?

Everyone!

God Bless America

God bless America, land that I love, stand beside her and guide her through the night with the light from above.

From the mountain to the prairie to the oceans white with foam,

God bless America, my home sweet home, God bless America, my home sweet home.

MAY WE ALWAYS LIVE IN A FREE LAND....THE LAND WE CALL THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! AMERICA!

THANK YOU TO ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN, SOLDIERS AND SAILORS, OUR HEROES, THAT PROTECT US ALL EVERY DAY!

I JUST WANT YOU TO BELIEVE

We live in a great country. A country where anyone and everyone has opportunity. We are free to have life, liberty, and pursue happiness. The last one is up to you.

We are, however, living in a difficult time for our great country. The government is slowly taking over. I saw a woman wearing a bright orange t-shirt at the hospital the other day as I was waiting to register for outpatient surgery.

The t-shirt had a huge circle with the Presidential seal in the background, President Obama's face in the foreground. It was all the same color, ecru. On the back, in extra large, all capital letters, also ecru, was this:

I
JUST
WANT
YOU
TO
BELIEVE

What does that mean?

Here is a website that is not pro Obama but does tell the facts:

www.exposeobama.com

We are being deceived with news coverage about Michael Jackson while the Congress is selling us down the river. What will it take to wake us all up? Check it out for yourself. Comments welcomed.
